Think Unemployment Numbers Are Manipulated By Obama? Seriously?

Gotta be kidding me. I’m willing to say a lot of things about Obama. Yes, he has made a lot of mistakes, his idea of big government is far from efficient and probably not what most of us want to see running Washington. That being said, I always have a hard time getting some arguments from the right. There are so many things that we can attack Obama with. Just look at how well Mitt Romney did in the debates. There is NO NEED to start running these conspiracy theories.

Every time I hear something along the lines of Obama’s birth certificate or how he does not like America, it drives me insane. The latest one occurred last Friday after the release of the latest unemployment numbers with the unemployment rate dropping below 8% for the first time in years to the surprise of…everyone. Here is one of the more talked about tweets:

Why Go There?

I personally think that those bringing up these bogus arguments lose a lot of credibility. Many republicans have explained how it was basically impossible to manipulate these numbers. I didn’t say improbable.. I said IMPOSSIBLE.  I’m not saying that it’s not weird, or that democrats might have pulled in every stop to get jobs created as we near the election. There’s nothing surprising about that. Every government in every country does that. But there’s a big difference between that and pretending there is this big conspiracy theory. Yes, Obama is very fortunate numbers went his way. But it’s just one number while many other things have not gone his way.

Romney seemed to handle it right as did many others saying that it was very good news but that this happened too late and we are far from where we should be at this point. Is that so difficult to say? Does someone really believe that Obama does not love his country? I mean come on!!! Obama has done himself enough harm, Romney stepped up his game in the debates.. do Republicans really have to go for these gimmicks?

Thoughts?

These indexes are complex and as such may be misleading…The formalization itself was changed in the 1990’s, with or without a good reason…

The main problem with one or both employment indexe is that, unemployment declines because people simply give up seeking work…So one can enjoy falling unemployment rates with no peak in employment…This is insane accounting and if used by the non-government world, would lead to civil suits or criminal indictments…

The real problem, IMO, is this index like so many, are compiled by a government unit, which may or not be politically bias..(BOCO team received 80-90% of votes from federal employees)

The fact remains, that many presidents have applied political pressure to divert from the truth..

Those whom fail to acknowledge these circumstances
    are either ignorant or naive…

There is nothing that the current administration would not do, to be reelected…After all, what is a lie compared to another four years in the WH..

And those who derive a living from capital formation or investments, will pay a dear price if BOCO, is returned to office…

“I will transform this country” “I believe in redistribution” “Forward” Trust me, you will partake whether you want or not; or some governmental unit will be knocking on your door or breaking it down…

Certainly in the last 12 years, we have become poorer and less free, with or without government indexes..

Why are you convinced of this? Because the employees of the BLS are career bureaucrats? Why do you think career bureaucrats don’t skew left, as most government employees do? (see: Justice Department) The current state of the economy and 1.3% GDP don’t jive with +873,000 jobs added. That is fairly obvious.

I just read your entry “Why we need Obama as President” from 2008 – which should automatically disqualify you as an intelligent opinion. You pointed out that McCain was not, as he admitted, an economics guy. How did it escape your notice that Obama, who had at that point never had a job in the real world, was also, as has become patently obvious, also not an economics guy?

I agree with Hans. It’s actually easy to manipulate the numbers, definitely not “impossible.”

Ms Shannon, a most powerful post…

In fairness to all those who voted for BOCO, in 08, it was more than likely an emotional decision rather than a subjective one…

The problem is, many of those voters will not confess the nature of their error… Manning up is hard to do…

And certainly, John McDole, offered little as an alternative…
