MCZ – Update

MCZ – Mad Catz Interactive (American Stock Exchange) (Closing Price on Friday – 05/11/07 – $0.90)

There have been many positive developments since my last post on MCZ.

Madcatz started shipping wired and wireless controllers for the Playstation 3 in March. They announced a new agreement to produce accessories for Mass Effect for the Xbox 360. They renewed their license agreement with the NBA to produce a new line of controllers and other accessories. Also, on Friday they announced an agreement with Microsoft to produce faceplates for Halo 3. (more…)

MCZ – Q3 2007 Earnings

MCZ – Mad Catz Interactive (American Stock Exchange) (Closing Price – $0.83)

Madcatz reported very good quarterly results on Feb. 14 and I would recommend accumulating more shares.

For their 2007 fiscal third quarter Madcatz reported sales of $36.5 million. This was a decrease of 19% from the comparable quarter last year. However the decrease in sales was the result of a strategic move to eliminate less profitable products. Consequently, gross profit margin almost doubled and Madcatz reported a profit of 0.07 (which was an improvement of 0.07 compared to the previous quarter last year). (more…)

MCZ – Buy and Accumulate at Current Price

MCZ – Mad Catz Interactive (American Stock Exchange) (Closing Price on Friday – 12/29/06 $0.58)

 

If you have been accumulating MCZ you have been able to buy shares at a cheaper price than I originally recommended MCZ at. I still believe MCZ is a good buy so I am going average Friday’s closing price with my other price recommendations.

 

If you look at MCZ’s chart you will see that the share price is due for another climb up. There will probably be a pre-earnings run also. If the share price does run up again before earnings I would lock in some gains. I would still hold the majority of my shares though and see what they report next quarter.

When you buy stocks you shouldn’t buy all at once and hope the stock doesn’t decline. You should spread out your buys and if the stock does decline your average purchase price will go down. No one is able to buy at the absolute bottom and sell at the absolute top. Furthermore, no one can consistently time short term ups and downs. If you try this you will start to chase gains and you will lose your money very quickly. (more…)

MCZ – Initiation of Buy Recommendation

MCZ- Mad Catz Interactive (American Stock Exchange) (Closing Price $0.65)

Mad Catz (ticker: MCZ) is a speculative play on the release of the next generation game consoles (the XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3). This company has improving fundamentals and will benefit from the hype surrounding the new game consoles.

Mad Catz sell peripherals such as controllers, racing wheels, and console accessories. Consumers will buy these products when they purchase their new consoles. The initial release of the consoles will help increase sales for MCZ but the biggest benefit should come after a year or so after the consoles have built a consumer base. (more…)
