Top 101 Dividend Stocks – November 2014 Edition – Why 101 stocks?

By: ispeculatornew | Date posted: 11.05.2014 (3:00 am)

Mandarin_Oriental_Munich_Exterior_bEvery month I take a universe of stocks (typically the S&P500) and look at the top dividend paying stocks. I’m the first one to admit that yield is (just) one criteria among many others that should be considered but it is a good starting point. It is often among this universe that I’ll start my research when I’m making changes to my Ultimate Sustainable dividend portfolio.

Here is the list!

The “Perfect” Dividend Stock?

As I was working on gathering my updated list of the top 100 dividend stocks from the S&P500, one thing that stuck out was actually a stock that did not make the list…barely. Proctor & Gamble is in many ways the “perfect” dividend stock. The company is a perfect example of what we typically look for:

-history of paying and increasing dividends
-company that can perform well in almost any economic scenario
-management committed to its dividend
-a highly diversified company that does not rely on one product or brand
-etc.

Just look at these numbers:

PGProcter & Gamble Co/The88.642.81-6.988.041.03610.1420.9

The main concern you’d have looking at this is the EPS and once you see the 30 year chart, you’ll see that the trend is loud and clear:
